The Workshop Arts Centre, located in Sydney, Australia, is a self-funded and non-profit organization that offers a myriad of creative courses and workshops in all areas of the arts. The Workshop Arts Centre aims to foster a critical awareness of aesthetic values and technical ability in many forms of art & craft, but also to create an open forum for new artistic ideas.
The Workshop Arts Centre was established in 1961 in Sydney, Australia by Joy Ewart with the help of fellow artists and art supporters and today provides day and evening courses in many different areas of art education including ceramics, children's art, creative writing, painting and drawings, printmaking, photography, sculpture, and jewellery. Art students have full access of the arts facilities, including the printmaking studios, jewellery studio, sculpture studio, and photography darkroom.
The Workshop also offers special workshops led by visiting artists. These workshops could run for a week or a weekend, concentrating on a specific medium and every Saturday and during school holidays, children's art workshops are offered in ceramics, painting, drawing and sculpture.
