Victorian College of Arts - History

The Victorian College of Arts is located in a spacious, custom designed art studio complex along with six other specialist art departments, making the site one of Victoria's most significant art venues.

VCA School of Art began as part of the National Gallery School, which was founded in 1867. It wasn't until 1992 that the School of Art merged with the other fine art departments in the Prahran Faculty of Art and Design in Victoria College. Victoria College can also trace its roots back to the mid-nineteenth century.

The School of Art was built upon the strong reputations and unique entities of its preceding art schools. Today, VCA School of Art holds a dynamic presence in the modern art world and contemporary education foundations.
