The Sydney College of the Arts has played a leading role in the research and practice of Australian contemporary art since 1976. The arts college offers educational art programs and art courses that prepare art students for success in the competitive art industry and broader art world. As part of the University of Sydney, SCA is also highly regraded for its academic excellence.
Located in the historic Kirkbride buildings in Rozelle, the campus of SCA has a clear view of Sydney Harbour. The educational art programs that SCA offers are studio-based. The facilities have computer and multimedia laboratories, printmaking, glass, wood, clay, and metal shops, film, video as well as sound production and editing facilities. Also part of the Sydney College of the Arts as the SCA art gallery, and the SCA library and several student exhibition spaces.
For undergraduate art students, Sydney College of the Arts offers the Bachelor of Visual Arts (BVA) and the Bachelor of Visual Arts Honours (BVA Hons). For postgraduate students, SCA offers Master of Studio Art (MSA), Master of Contemporary Art for Educators (MCAE), Master of Multimedia Design (MMDes), and Master of Film and Digital Image (MFDI). Our research degrees include Master of Visual Arts (MVA) and Doctor in Philosophy (PhD)
Although no short courses are currently offered, the Centre for Continuing Education (CCE) offers teaching resources and facilities at SCA.
Sydney College of the Arts offers a full range of art scholarships, including art scholarships to second year art students through to postgraduate art candidates. Scholarships are also available to international art students.
