The National Art School - NAS, located in Sydney, Australia, is a fine arts education institute that cultivates artistic excellence. Past art students; the alumni of NAS have gone on to be very successful and well known artists, painter and sculptors in the art world. The school is located in the historical old Darlinghurst Gaol in Sydney’s premier Arts precinct home to many of Sydney’s leading commercial art galleries.
The National Art School offers the expertise and knowledge of over 80 established artists with working art studios. The art school also brings in art historians who present lectures and intensive learning techniques. Each year of the undergraduate programs, courses on drawing, art history, and art theory in comparison to contemporary culture are taught.
The National Art School believes that exchanging ideas enhances the learning environment of the school. Besides courses, the National Art School also offers a year long program of art exhibitions, plays, and art lectures, all part of the Art Forum series.
NAS takes in a select number of full time students each year, offering Bachelor of Fine Art, Bachelor of Fine Art Honours, and Master of Fine Art courses. For the community, NAS offers a variety of part-time and intensive short courses. NAS also offers high school students HSC Extension Workshops and the Dobell School for Year 11 courses.
The different art disciplines at NAS include Ceramics, Painting, Photography, Printmaking and Sculpture. Art History & Theory and Drawing are also offered as core subjects at NAS.
