The USQ McGregor Schools are residential creative, visual, and performing arts schools run by the Faculty of Arts at the University of Southern Queensland. The McGregor Schools foster culture, creativity, and art in the local region of Southern Queensland. The USQ McGregor Schools offer a number of exciting summer residential art programs for entertainment arts, performing arts, visual arts and creative arts. The summer school art programs have gained great esteem for its intimate creative environment.
The McGregor Summer School also offers a program called Experience the Arts, which is a ten-day Visual Arts Residency for secondary students entering Years 9 to 12. A great high school arts education program that has proven popular.
The McGregor Schools also offer winter programs for students in the creative and visual arts. The winter arts programs are smaller and more focused than the summer programs, but the quality of artistic excellence remains the same.
At The USQ McGregor Schools an art scholarship called the 'Art Fellowship' is available to emerging young artists who demonstrate artistic talent and show commitment to self-development as an artist. The judges look for individuals whose lives would be enhanced by exposure to the arts in an intensive period in an international setting. One student attending the McGregor Winter School or the McGregor Summer School will be awarded the Art Fellowship. The winning student will be selected from the disciplines of Painting, Drawing, Printmaking or Sculpture.
The McGregor Schools also offers the 'Prize for Photography'. The entrants of the competition will receive substantial prize money for photographs on an open theme.
