This can be done just by sitting it in the sun for a minute or so which hardens the effected areas of the light sensitive ground. The non effected areas then come away to form the plate ready for printing. Solarplate printmaking is capable of fine rendition of full tone unique in that photographic and hand drawn images come out quite well in this printmaking medium.

Solarplate printmaking is faster than traditional printmaking methods, and does not require the multiple steps as other techniques do. However solar plates are not easily reworked after making the initial image.
