Interior Designer

The role of the Interior Designer is to design and furnish the interiors of residential, commercial, and industrials buildings.

The Interior Designer has to have an artistic eye so the form, colour, scale, and arrangement of the building are all kept in balance. It is crucial for an interior designer to understand woods, textiles, and decorating products.

An interior designer should also be knowledgable about the design of different historical periods. Besides understanding how to decorate, an interior designer needs to understand flammability and toxicity standards, and how to read blueprints and work with architects and engineers.

To become an interior designer, you need to get a Bachelor's degree in interior design. It is also helpful for an interior designer to understand graphic design, architecture, and web design.
